I was just playing Scrabble, and my opponent hit two triple word scores and got 131 points. I forfeited. What else could I do - play a word for 7 points? Pathetic. Nothing I could have done would have saved me.
Sometimes quitting is just the best thing you can do. If not the only thing. I don't know if he was cheating or playing honestly, but I could not compete.

I stopped playing because I was doing my best and getting about seven points a play, and my opponents were having amazing luck somehow...
ReplyDeleteYou know, I agree that quitting can be all you can do - lately, Geoff's been on my case about not giving up when missions glitch up in CO, and I want to ask him, "What does it matter? I've proved that I don't quit in real life; I don't see the point in wasting time on a game! Who cares if I quit? I'm the one losing points if I do, not you, so who cares??"
But I won't say it, because there's also no point to it. He doesn't like anything to do with quitting, apparently, so a debate could go on forever! :P
I can see where he's coming from - you can't win if you quit. But, sometimes you can't win for all the effort in the world; and that's when moving on is your best option. You just get tired of trying and failing, so you just do something else. Maybe you'll retrace your steps one day - and maybe not. But if you quit a game because it glitched, who cares, honestly? I do that every day. Freaks me out; I don't want to wreck my computer. If it's not cooperating, I won't force it. I'll get frustrated, but I'll quit.
DeleteExactly! Computers are precious once they hold so much of you - pictures, stories, work . . . I really wanted to quit school, because it seemed like tons and tons of work and no success . . . of COURSE, the school course sites never glitched, but great things like YouTube do! :(
DeleteI never took a school course on the computer, but maybe I would have been a better student if I didn't have to use my hand all the time. I actually had puckered sores on the insides of my fingers at the end of each day from writing.
