A Bad Dream

Have you ever had a horrid dream that you can't believe your subconscious was capable of conjuring? Jeesh, those suck. Some- times in my dream, bombs are being dropped by helicopters, and the town is burning and people are screaming and dying and running...
Last night, and this morning, I dreamed that two killers pushed their way inside and sat at the table, forcing my mom to make coffee for them or else she would get it. And when nobody was looking, I took two guns from their bag and hid them in the fridge. Then I pretended to be innocent, looking for something to eat or drink and then I pulled out the guns and turned around and aimed for their legs. But I got them in their heads instead. And went to jail, where I passed a lie detector test and locked myself into a cell anyway because I felt so guilty.
Eesh. Nasty. Think I might try to sleep again later.
Oh, who am I kidding? Of course I will. But first, I'm going to, well, not. I need to shake the cobwebs out of my head and in general, just be thankful that dream didn't last forever.

  1. I have those kinds of dreams a lot. I used to have nightmares so bad I’d wake everyone up with my screaming, or so Mom told me, but lately my dreams are mostly just weird. Last night (or, okay, half an hour ago) I woke up because I wasn’t enjoying a dream about a nuclear bomb that dropped; there was a lot of water between the explosion and me (an ocean, maybe?) but I was still scared. But someone was holding me (not sure who) as if I was a little kid, so I felt a little okay, too.

I had a dream once where I shot someone accidentally . . . I woke up terrified and SO glad it had been ‘just a dream’. I swear, it matters what you eat before you try and sleep.

And in other, recurring dreams, I’m being chased by these two guys who, kind of like zombies, don’t tire out and never die. In my dream I know they’re chasing me because they want to hurt me, and yet, I can shoot them or they can fall off a cliff or someone can drive a truck into them, and maybe they get knocked over but they get right back up and start chasing me again. I hate that one . . .

I need to shake the cobwebs out of my head and in general, just be thankful that dream didn't last forever.

Sometimes that’s all you can do, eh? There have been lots of times I was thrilled to wake up and realize that all the bad stuff I thought had happened or was happening, wasn’t real.

    1. Sometimes, when I can't sleep; I watch scary movies before trying again to sleep. If I have a horrific nightmare, I know I got there; whereas with boring dreams, I can't tell.
I have zombie dreams all the time (particularly when I induce nightmares). Sometimes I turn into one of them, but still act like myself, protecting you from more of my kind. It's pretty bizarre.
No kidding!! Normally I'm begging for sleep to come, but after a night like that, I just don't think I'll be sleeping anytime soon. Of course, in retrospect, I said that and was asleep ten minutes later, so who knows?
