Jibber-Jabber

You know what Sims need to be able to do? Slide down the stair rails. It would be a fast way to get downstairs. It could build their Fun meters; and the more they do it, the less they fall off! And when they do fall off, playful Sims would continue to try to slide down, and serious Sims would walk the rest of the way. They should also be able to sit on the stairs and read, or study, or chat...They should have trampolines, treehouses you don't need to download and can customize, and ladders you can put inside the house instead of stairs or elevators. Oh, and escalators! That'd be awe-some!
But I only have Life Stories, Pet Stories, and various expansion packs for Sims 2 and 3. Maybe they have some, or even all, of these features - I don't know. I've seen treehouse and ladder content available for download, but I've also seen a player's makeshift air-plane. It never went anywhere. But imagine, Sims of all ages (well, from children to elders) climbing up into the treehouse, playfully titled Fun Fort Everyone Treehouse, to sleep, read, daydream, relax, chat, fool around, study, look out the window, have picnics, and hold meetings exclusive to members. You could add a door and a secret knock. There could be a tire swing attached and you'd have to click the tire swing to use it, and it could say Swing and Spin Around, an action which would make the Sim twist the rope around and around and then spin all the way down again. And maybe once in awhile it would have to be cleaned of webs and footprints... Maybe treasure could be hidden inside the trunk or beneath the stumps, and Sims could hide stuff there...Timid Children could be afraid to come down, and would have to be rescued, and then they could refuse to go up there again until they maximize the Body skill.
Sims could get a splinter now and then, and the option to Medicate Wound would appear when clicking on that Sim. For a child Sim, parents and older siblings could kiss it better.
I don't know, I'm rambling. I'm kind of nervous about going to bed, because our handyman cut out a chunk of my wall to show me why the wall was dented (and if I'm correct, the dents were getting worse). Now if there's a way for a spider to come in...well, I don't want to think about it. And I can't sleep in the living room, because I know there are spiders.
Well, whatever. When I'm asleep I won't give a damn; it's lying there awake that makes me nervous. But, like I've done every night so far, I can deal with that. Long as people don't start singing again. Or yelling. Man, I wish I could pick this house up and carry it off to another location. A cliff overlooking a serene beach, perhaps.

  1. I’ve always thought the games could make staircases much more interesting and useful — sometimes sitting on the stairs is comfy (especially if they’re carpeted), and it’d be a nice way to get your Comfort meter up even if you can’t afford one of the nice armchairs. And Sims really should be able to sit on the stairs to eat; I think I’ve seen Sims (in Sims 3, I think) sit on the toilet fully-dressed or on the edge of the bathtub to eat if I didn’t give them a table (though I always do now, so I don’t remember for sure). I like your ideas for what Sims could do with railings, too.

You might want to move on to the later editions of the games if you want better objects; you get customizable trampolines and treehouses in the Sims 3, and apparently you can get trampolines for the console version of Sims 2 (I don’t know for sure what that means; maybe it means computer, maybe it means X-Box or something, and I’ve tried playing the X-Box version of the Sims and I hated it; I find using a computer much easier). I kind of miss the Generations expansion pack just for the spiral staircases; they were awesome-looking and a great space-saver.

Reading on, I can tell you have a lot of great ideas for treehouses ... and some of them are real! Sims can get splinters from treehouses!

(I ended up doing a lot of Sims research while writing this reply and nearly got distracted enough that I forgot I was writing it. The Sims games are weirdly addictive :p

  2. I know they are. The cashier at GameBit knows they are. :D
Yes, I've seen that also. I've also seen Sims meditate until they float, and are able to meditate on coffee tables.
My Sims 3 collection is very small, still. I love it, but Sims 2 is easier on my computer. In fact I'm thinking of adding Seasons and Apartment Life, on top of the three expansion packs I have now. My computer's just in a really good place.

    1. I miss World Adventures just for the extra grapevines and the nectar-making, because I'm the kind of gamer to add the whole annoying Showtime expansion pack just so I can plant banana trees in my garden and use bananas in my cooking! :D It was either going to be that or the Pets expansion I added, but that one only gives you carrots, and there's no specific uses for carrots in cooking like there is (for one meal) with bananas :p

    2. I get it. Turns out University is kind of a drag - literally, I swear that normal speed is faster than high speed. But I love having a CowPlant, and a way for my Sims to die without having to wait for them to die of old age.
So far my favorites are still Seasons and Apartment Life, which I'm going to install because of the sliding bookcase door I love so much. I figured out how to make secret passages inside the foundation, and I need something a little more discreet than a staircase. But Open For Business provides more candle styles and double-story doors and arches made of stone, more fountain types, and an amazing set of matching medieval stuff. Including a bed with actual curtains. They don't close or anything, but it looks so royal.
I'm still trying to find Family Fun Stuff. Still no luck.

    3. Does the Cowplant put out a big piece of cake to lure Sims close enough to grab and eat them if they don't feed it? I think I saw one do that on someone's Sims 4 video, but I can't remember if all the cow plants use cake as bait :p

When I want to kill a Sims 3 Sim, I make them go for a jog or lift weight until they're fatigued, then make them go for a swim in a pool with fenced edges; they drown almost immediately ... it's how I get rid of glitched Sims :p

I remember buying Apartment Life! :D I thought it was SO cool ... I remember that hot summer in 2009 (when we lived on Coote) when you and I were so tired of the heat upstairs that we took our laptops down to the ground floor and sat sort of by the doors to Bobby's garage and our front door and watched 8 Simple Rules and played Sims ... great times :D

I love beds with curtains, especially if they also have a canopy and bedskirt. I'm not a fan of having forty pillows on the bed, but that's mostly because being propped up gives me body and headaches and I'd rather stretch out, unless it's really cold :p

Good luck finding it; next time I'm in a place that sells games, I'll look for it, too ... we don't get out much, and even going to a bigger town doesn't mean we'll find any games (which sucks), but let me know if you do find it before I do, or else I'll probably buy you a second one :)

  3. Aw, thanks. If you did end up sending me a copy, I'd reimburse you. Even if it was not bought twice. (I take that stuff pretty seriously. Lorne once said I owed him a Caramilk because I mentioned it and made him crave, so I bought one for him, even though he said he was kidding.)
Yes, I've drowned Sims 3 Sims, too. I had to build a wall around the pool so they couldn't jump out, though.
I remember that also. We had KFC that night. I was kind of in a funk because I kept chewing on bones.
Yes, they do lure Sims in with cake. Sometimes I make my Sim feed the Cowplant - sometimes I feed the Cowplant with my Sim. Well, only once. Well, twice with one guy, but the second time he died I saved it, thinking he was at work. Sometimes I still expect him to come home.
I kind of like the Cowplant death, because once the Sim is eaten you can drink that Sim, and the drinker won't be sad about the death anymore. But my favorite will always be the transmutation death in Sims 3, because you can arrange their statues in funny ways.

    1. Aww, it's sad that you kept expecting him to come home :(

    2. It's okay. It's not the same anyway. Life Stories was where it was going perfectly. But that's gone for good. Unlike Larry, who I can resurrect if I want.
